EDITOR’S NOTE: Understanding bounce rate can really help improve your user experience. But what exactly is it? As Hubspot explains here, bounce rate is “the percentage of people who land on a page on your website, then leave. They don’t click on anything else or visit a second page on the site”. It is not the same as exit rate, and is also not correlated to it. A high bounce rate (above 70%) could mean that something like bad design, errors in your tracking code, excessive bots, or browser incompatibility could be driving users away. A high exit rate would generally mean that users found the answer to their search query on your site. Some easy ways to increase your bounce rate are to make sure your website provides a good user experience both on desktop and mobile. Limit things like pop-ups and ads. Also be sure your content matches user intent for the keywords you’re trying to rank for. If you have any questions about your analytics, reach out to us at Prebuilt Sites or The BBS Agency. We’d love to help you out!
